The Museum of Chincoteague Island Presents: Master Magician Peter Samelson
Peter Samelson is a Sleight-of-Hand Artist, Master Magician, and Off-Broadway Star. He has been described as a "mentalist & illusionist entertainer extraordinaire" and "one of the greatest living magicians" by Penn & Teller.
His show will take place at the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance on Church Street. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show will begin at 7 p.m. The event will include light sweet & savory fare and a cash bar. There will be limited seating.
Tickets are $30, and 100% of that price will go to the Beebe Ranch fundraiser. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Museum at 757-336-6117 or in person at the Museum of Chincoteague Island.

42nd Annual Easter Decoy & Art Festival
The Easter Decoy & Art Festival is held to celebrate the history and craft of decoy carving and where local and national decoy carvers and artists of all kinds; fine art, photography, sculpture, jewelry, stained glass, pottery, etc. exhibit and sell their work at this Chincoteague Island tradition. Exhibitors carve and create on site and are eager to talk about the love of their work.
Come eager to learn from the finest and purchase some of their works to treasure yourself or to give as a gift.

53rd Annual Chincoteague Seafood Festival
The Chincoteague Seafood Festival is held the first Saturday in May to promote the seafood industry on Virginia's Eastern Shore. The festival offers fresh, local seafood and will include exciting offerings and signature dishes from local restaurants as well as old and new Eastern Shore favorites prepared by famous festival cooks, volunteers, and professionals. Indulge on little neck clams, a long-time festival staple, along with raw oysters and clams, clam fritters, crab jalapeno cheddar poppers, single fried oysters, fried fish, shrimp cocktail, clam chowder, salad bar, grilled chicken, sweet potato fries, Boardwalk fries, hushpuppies, and cornbread. Non-alcoholic beverages are included in the ticket price with beer available for purchase. Front Page News will provide live entertainment for everyone's listening and dancing enjoyment. Shop to your hearts content in the Arts and Crafts tent featuring handmade creations from area artisans. An Extravaganza Raffle is held with the winner receiving t-shirts, tickets, trays, lodging, gift certificates for meals, and much more for the following year's festival. There will also be a variety of souvenirs available for purchase.

South Herd Roundup
The South Herd Roundup is the first major event before the exciting Pony Swim!
The "Saltwater Cowboys" will ride out to the southern end of Assateague Island to herd the more than 50 ponies (adults and foals) inhabiting this part of the island into the Southern Corral on the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
The public may come view the arrival of the ponies at the Southern Corral on Beach Road. The ponies will be here Saturday through Tuesday for photos and viewing.

North Herd Roundup
The North Herd Roundup concludes the Chincoteague Pony roundups in preparation for the Pony Swim!
The "Saltwater Cowboys" will ride across the northern end of Assateague Island, VA to herd between 100-150 ponies (adults and foals) inhabiting this part of the island into the Northern Corral on the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
This event is not open to the public for the safety of the ponies and people.

Pony Beach Walk
North meets south when the "Saltwater Cowboys" release the North Herd of Chincoteague Ponies at daybreak and walk them along the shore of the Atlantic Ocean to join the South Herd ponies in the South Corral.
It is advised to be at Assateague Island National Seashore by 6am for parking purposes. Assateague Island opens at 5am. Bring your beach gear and stay for the day or walk behind the ponies to the corral and visit awhile. Bikers and hikers may access the beach via Swan Cove Trail.

National Parks Free Entrance Day
Come experience the national parks! On five days in 2023, all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone. Mark your calendar for these entrance fee-free dates in 2023:
January 16: Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
April 22: First day of National Park Week
August 4: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
September 23: National Public Lands Day
November 11: Veterans Day

43rd Annual Chincoteague Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade
December 2, 2023 (inclement weather date Friday, December 8) at 6:00pm on Main Street, Chincoteague Island, VA Presented by the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce
Visit beautiful Chincoteague Island and celebrate an annual Christmas tradition - the Chincoteague Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade! The parade will begin at the intersection of Main Street and Maddox Boulevard, head down Main Street, and end at the old Fire House so attendees can see enchanting floats, bands, marching units, decorated boats, fire companies from across the Eastern Shore, equestrian teams, classic cars, and more. Keep an eye out for Santa too! Entries may stop at the Judge's Stand in front of Chincoteague Island Library for a short performance.
The Chincoteague Police Department will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for their Annual Toy Run during the parade. Please consider making a donation and help put smiles on the faces of less-fortunate children this holiday season.
